Magic Kingdom to Test FASTPASS Parade Viewing Area by R. A. Pedersen
Beginning the week of October 23, 2011, Magic Kingdom will test offering FASTPASS tickets for a restricted-access viewing area for the afternoon Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade. The test will run for approximately one month.
Due to the limited size of the test’s viewing area (reportedly in the Castle Forecourt), few details are being shared regarding how guests will obtain these parade FASTPASS tickets. Word on the street is that there will be a “random selection” of guests.
If further details are revealed, we’ll be sure to share them!
Me too. I would think it is along the lines of the reserved seating for Fantasmic with a dinner package, except that it is free of course. Random luck of the draw isn't great for those of us with no "Winner's luck". Ib suppose if it is a success they may make additional fast pass viewing areas and make it available to whoever gets a fastpass first.
While it sound good I am not for it. MHO Just too many things that will go wrong. How would they be fair in giving out fast passes? Maybe if Disney would be on guard or watching ?? Will it be for the parties as well or just parades?

Bad idea. Part of what keeps the lines at some of the rides in check is that people go wait on the sidewalks for the parade. Start fast passing some of those spots and you will have more people clogging up the lines for the other rides. Just not a fan of buying a reserved seat once you have already had to buy your way into the park. That is a little bit of double dipping Disney. Keep it fair for the people who spent their vacation savings just getting into the park.
I don't mind the idea of the fast pass as long as it's remain a non chargable thing because as it's already been mentioned that we already paid tho get into the park and I don't think it's fair that Disney would charge for that as well.
I don't know how I feel about it. I didn't realize that people had an issue about their viewing area for the parade. It's a parade and we all know the drill. If you want a particular location you stake it out and sit and wait. It's just how it is.
We watch the parades occasionally. Really we like to use that time to hit the good rides.
This test is for a parade that we have been able to walk right up to when we hear it starting. That may have to do with when we go to WDW, but it is just really a waste when I consider how easy it has been for us to watch it with no one in front of or behind us.
2) Is this also going to be in effect for "Wishes"??
Personally, I think this is a dumb idea, as parades/Wishes/etc. are viewed in open areas throughout the park. It is not like "World of Color" that has its own area.
Disney already does this sort of "prime viewing area" thing with other events, such as Illuminations. I think there may be one or possibly two nights a week whereby the average guest can view Illuminations from the prime viewing areas outside of UK and France. The rest of the nights, people pay to enter those areas, eat dessert and see the show unobstructed.
I will not be surprised at all if Disney figures out a way to squeeze some revenue out of prime viewing areas for parades as well.
I can only hope they never figure out my most excellent sooper seekrit place from which to view Wishes. They will end up charging me to stand there!
sounds like you have a perfect spot found for viewing the show that was like us on the cruise we found a wee spot just for the two of us and it was perfect I could sit in the shade (i burn to easily) and DH could catch some sun and no-one found it.
The word is the viewing area is in the castle courtyard area. This has only been mentioned for the parade, not for wishes. The fast passes will be given at random to families/guests by cast members in the park. I wouldn't pay for a spot to watch a parade if that is the direction they are going with this trial. I haven't had any more information since the original posting.
I really don't see it working it you have to pay for it because we have never had any problems viewing the parades you just pick a spot and wait (and people watch)
