We are going on a quick trip to WDW in a couple of weeks. We first looked at this because of the new deals that were announced last month. Even with the deals we couldn't get a value resort for the dates we wanted and it was still a little steep for a moderate. What we decided was to officially visit friends in Orlando for 5 days and stay at Scopa Towers for 2 nights. We will spend 3 days in the park.
A couple of twists for this trip. It's a quick trip so we decided to write off Animal kingdom and we will get the base three day ticket. No park hopping. That's the first time for us in a long time with no park hopping. Here is my logic. Park Hopping for 3 adults and 1 kid costs in the low $200's in addition to the base ticket. For that $200 and change I save there, I am throwing at the QS dining plan which is the same amount for our group, low $200's. Cost of the plan was a little more than we would have paid eating at four QS's plus 16 snacks(which we probalby would not buy) plus four resort cups(which we would have only bought 2). But hey, this is going to be our High Falootin Value Vacation. Between super low airfare we were able to get, plus a lower than the WDW site price package from an online agent, and a great car rental price we are truly going low budget this trip. So spending a couple bucks more not to worry about money for most of the meals and such in the parks is great. Plus the cups are a nice bonus.
With two weeks left we are getting our must-do and must-don't lists ready to go. I'll let you know about the plan when we have one.
Should be a nice quick trip for you Ed....I always love having the option of park hopping, but it makes sense to save that money and use it towards the food. Wise compromise there
You can always contact Denise or one of her agents at www.MagicalTravel.com for some help as well.

I think I am packed. All park items are to be picked up on check-in. We are going down to Fla tomorrow and hitting the Pop first thing Thursday morning. The plan is DS on Thurs, Epcot on Fri for EMH0, and MK on Sat. for wishes and spectro.
We plan on doing something new in each park. The early favorites are Liberty Belle in MK, Sunshine Seasons in Epcot and TSM for the kids in DS. For me in DS I want to find the attraction that I heard about where you can learn to draw a disney character.(I will spend a little of the time left trying to pin-point this one down tonight). This is also(so he says) a trip of first for the boy. He's 11 and up until now been ride shy. He says everything is on the table this time. I hope so.
Thanks for the the well wishes everyone and I'll let you know how it turns out.
The draw a disney character is located in the Animation courtyard. I think you have to go through the Magic of Disney Animation attraction to get to it. My daughter did this in 2007. She was 14 at the time. She really enjoyed it and you get to take the drawing home. Hers is hanging on her wall. A free souviner.

Sorry I have not finished this yet. Still dealing with the 'we're back blues' plus a dose of the real world made last week very busy.
The trip was great. We got down to Orlando with no problems and ended up with a Chrysler 300 from Thrifty. It took 10 minutes to find their shuttle and get to the lot of the airport property. Please invest in Blue chip or what ever frequent renter program. I skipped a line of 10 and got to my car in 5 minutes. We stayed in Ovieda over night and up early to get down to Pop Century.
It was a 50 minute ride and we checked-in mainly to get the tickets for the park. The boy was feeling kinda bad so we asked for and got a room in the 90's building right away. It was 7:30 in the morning. He laid down for a while and then said he was ready to go. We still made it to DHS for Rope drop and it was fun. Not a big crowd. Very cold. 40 degrees. We had hats and gloves. we decided that it was a weird fun way to go to the park. We made it to Toy Story for Fastpass and a ride through the Stand-by line. Nice walk through the que. They might be different generations, but Mr. Potatoe Head and Buzz Light year are almost in the same place in their respective ride ques. We did Playhouse Disney to see the new show. Very fun. Our youngest is 8, so we still qualify to get in. Back to TSM but first One Man's Dream. It was great for the kids to see this. It helps them realize the man and the family of Disney were real and not a story. TSM again and then a nice walk over to the Backlot Express. It looked like American idol was open and we found out later that it was. We watched the Jedi Academy as we ate and the kids an I went on Star Tours. The wife has it on her 'will not do anymore' list. Then we did a must-do for the daughter, HSM3. They have a lot of talent in that show. Then Muppets, GRM and Narnia. We went over to Sunset and with no fastpasses for Tower or Coaster and 90 min. waits we went and saw Beauty and the Beast. We tried to wait on line at the coaster. But after 15 minutes when we did not move an inch and a Brazilian tour group of about 100 going up the Fastpass line, we got off line. WE backtracked to the animation tour. By time we got the Learn to draw the line was pretty long for that. So maybe next time. We did see the parade and lucked out to wait at the part where the first part of the parade stopped and then the end of the second part stopped also. It was a very fun parade.
And I don't usually like parades. Except for Spectro. Note the last float in the parade is a cookie box. I could not help but catch the Nutrition Facts.
