Don't know if anybody out there has a Disney Dining Experience card--we've had one a couple of times, including this past year. It seemed to me that it was easily confused with the Disney Dining Plan once they started up that program. I've had servers who couldn't figure out what I meant when I told them I wanted to use my DDE card...they usually thought I was trying to use a DDP credit.
Seems like Disney is now trying to clear up the confusion by renaming the Disney Dining Experience. As of Monday, Sept. 15th it will be called Tables in Wonderland, a play on the 2008 Food and Wine Festival theme "Cities in Wonderland". I'm not sure what to think of the new name. It doesn't strike me as a very clear name for the program. It kind of sounds like a place instead of just a dining discount card. What do you think?

I think the name "Tables in Wonderland" is dumb. It gives not hint whatsoever that it is a dining discount card.
I understand the reason for the name change, but for the insane amount that Disney spent on the name change, they could have come up with a better name.

I have the DDE card. I have found that we have saved a lot of money with it.
We have also had issues with cast members not knowing what it was or confusing it with the Dining Plan. I agree that a name change is in order but "Tables In Wonderland" is a ridiculous name.
I like Greg's suggestions for names much better ("The Give my 20% off Card" or "The Scrooge McDuck Dinning Card")
I have the Dining Experience card. Not sure about this new name though.
But, it works for us as it gives us 20% at just about every restaurant we normally eat at.
Ummmm wait a minute... Let's figure this out. You pay $75 to $100 a year for the card and it gives you 20% off. But now they tack on 18% gratuity. Is it just me or does it seem like we're paying $75 to $100 a year for a card that only gives us 2% off in reality???? Personally I'd rather have control over what I leave for a tip. At Boma there have been times when I've left a 100% tip for certain waitresses but there have also been times when it hurt me to leave 10% because of the bad service.
We have never received bad service at Disney. Maybe we've been lucky
So, with that being said, I usually give about 15 to 20% tip, so the 18% built-in tip didn't affect us at all.
So, when we go to Disney and eat probably an average of 4 to 6 sit down meals per trip and then multiply it times 2 for the minimum trips per year....that means that we eat 8 to 12 times per year at sit down options at Disney. And, at an average of $75/meal for a family of four, it equates to a total of $120 to $180 per year at least in savings. So, it makes sense for us to have the card because it pays for itself easily and usually doubled.
But, like anything else, it depends on the family/person using the card. For us, it makes sense, but it might not work for others.

Actually, you are still saving 20%, not 2%. Let's say that your bill would have been $100. By using the card your bill becomes $80 and your tip is 18% of that. That makes your total $94.40. Without the card, you would have paid $100 plus tip. With an 18% tip, that would be $118. You saved $23.60...which is exactly 20% of $118.

Good point! Thanks! It's still over an hour drive to Disney for me but who knows.... maybe I'll renew my dining card after all!!!!!!!!!
We love our card -- and always find that it pays for itself. This Sept we will save big time as we will be able to use it for us and many of our family members.
Tables in Wonderland Card -- Don't go to Disney without it.

The only place we've ever had really terrible service was at Beaches & Cream. It happened twice and both times we were sitting at the counter. I'll try again in Aug though because we're spending a week at the Yacht & Beach Club and I can't resist the chocolate shakes there YUMMM!

I can second that with Beaches & Cream about bad service & we had bad service at Coral Reef for some unknown reasons.. I think it just a luck of the draw at times with service any where. You are staying at The Yacht Club have you thought of Captain's Grille? They have good food & service

Does only one person in the party have to have the Tables in Wonderland card? I was thinking this might be an option when I go in Oct because there will be 8 of us. Does the card expire one year from the date it's issued? Is there a certain number of times that you have to use the card for it to be worth buying it?
