Nothing official here, but a pretty good clue that there could possibly be a third level of the Disney Dining Plan for 2009. Many of the deal and package changes get released to visitors from the UK earlier than they get released in the US due to the differences in vacationing patterns for British guests. Free dining was released there first, for example. Now UK guests are being offered a Quick Service Dining Plan that includes 2 quick service meals and 2 snacks per day plus a length-of-stay refillable mug for their resort.
What do you think about this? Would you take advantage of this new dining plan? Would you do this instead of the Basic Dining Plan that has been offered? If you haven't done DDP before, would this convince you to try it out?

Yep, I'd try it out for sure! For one, in my case, it becomes more affordable (which I hope because a CS for a family is a lot cheaper than TS meals) and I would consider staying on site more often than I do. Omit the TS and can plan those how I want and if I want since we only do at most two to three TS meals in an 8 day period. This would definitely work for us...

...IF IF "Quick Service Meal" = Counter Service.
It's got my vote.
I think you are like many people...they would rather eat and keep running.
BTW, "quick service" does equal "counter service".

I think this is a great option and another way to try to get people to stop making ADR's. Maybe this will help with this as well. We always have a TS meal on everyday and sometimes 2. It depends on where we are and what we had planned for the day. We will typically do Chef Mickey's on the morning that we are going to MK and do dinner at the Hoop-De-Do that night. This is 3 TS credits for us for that day. We actually are thinking of stepping to the premium plan for the next trip to see if this better suits us, as we also enjoy some of the other places that require 2 TS credits. This would be an interesting option though, later this year, if it becomes available since I am trying to squeeze in a trip between now and the end of the year. This would help keep our price down.
Definitely!!!! I am not thrilled with the dining plan now that gratuities are no longer include. I think that would be a fabulous option and you could once again have your meals paid for up front and not have to worry about the additional costs for gratuities.

I think that the premium plan includes the appetizers and the gratuity, if I am not mistaken.
The premium plan is too much food for us. We don't always use all of the credits in the regular plan. I will be very anxious to see details of this new level if it happens.

I would be interested in trying this new option when it becomes available. We usually end up eating CS meals because it just seems easier. A few years ago we had the dining plan and I found it difficult making ADRs and planning where we had to be and when.(we might not have had a park hopper pass) I like to be more spontanious(sp?). When we are ready to eat, I would just like to go to any resturant. Not worry that it's 6pm and now we have to stop what we are doing to make a reserved time seating.
This would be a perfect option for my family.
We eat only one or two table service meals per trip, we just don't want to give up the time it takes to sit and be served. We eat alot of counter service, and a lot of snacks as we take the parks commando style.
I hope this is true, and I sure hope it is made available to DVC members, like the regular dining plan is now.
Apparently, Disney is now making the announcement of the Quick Service Dining Plan official. I haven't seen anything yet about pricing, but will let you know if I do.

I will still get the DDP myself as I like to take the time to sit down & eat. Just DH & myself. No need to rush around, like to take our times. <smiles>
Will be interesting to find out about the new plan though.
