Anyone that would like to test out the mobile style. Please go ahead and log into the site via your mobile device (and let me know what you're using to access the site, please) and tell me whether you can surf the site easily or if it doesn't look right. Please give me specific information as to what you'd like to see or not see.

Tink, we'll keep checking things on our end. Just wanted to get more feedback from anyone that might have access to a mobile device and can help us.

ok problem
There is no way to scroll to the end of your post. The box is only 6 lines high on my phone and when you are out of visible box, you are done. Not a deal breaker, still ,anaging to get it done except now i am beyond six lines and cannot see anything i am typing so i will not be held accountable for typos ;D

OH WAIT I fixed it! I can see again. It's a miracle! I don't know what I did but I think it was the phone, not the site.

Back on the laptop for a bit, my thumbs were getting cranky

so, how do you propose to upload photos? Will there be an email address to which we can email them and then they display... somewhere? Or do it the same way we do it with a regular PC?

ah so THAT'S what the button with the double exclamation point on it is for !! I had no idea what it was - thanks for clearing that up, and no, there are no spills on aisle 4

Hey, where is that "Posted via mobile device" coming from? It seems to replace the normal siggie. Is it customizable? I would put in "Posted from my sizzlin' hot Nokia E71 mobile device!"

I can customize that little 'verbiage' to whatever we want it to say. But, it's not down to the member level, it's site wide (or at least I haven't figured it out yet to do it at the member level

), but is there something other than "Posted via mobile device" that we should put?

Maybe "WDB Mobile Post" or "WDBoards is mobile!" or something?

As far as the siggie, that's removed for streamlining and browsing purposes. Not sure if there's an option to add the siggie back in, but I'll keep looking.

I'm sure there are TONS of ways that we can move things around and change things within the mobile style. So, if you see things that you'd like to see changed, let me know. Then, I'll go on some support forums and see if someone can guide me how to make the changes

I think you did a good job streamlining the site for mobile devices. Don't see the need to allow the normal siggies - it will just clutter things up and people who surf in from the mobile web aren't going to be here to see siggies!

My only concern at this point is the question regarding HOW to get photos posted to WDB from the mobile web. The ability to send them from the phone to an email address and have them post somewhere on the board would be optimal - so easy! - but if the software doesn't do it, well it doesn't do it.

I'm asking about the ability to send pics and post somewhere on the boards. The support forums I use for the vBulletin forums software is generally very good. So, if there's a way (without an up front cost) then, they'll find it for me!

Any other suggestions or comments about the mobile style?

Here i am with the mobile device again.

There is only one reply botton and it is automatically quoting the last post in the thread. Can we make that go away?

Also i do not have the option to attach anything. I am going to switch over to the normal version of the board. However when attaching on a PC, it does so in a pop up so i don't know how the phone will handle that. Stay tuned.....

Hi there, back on the PC again. I tried to switch to Normal PC Mode, but it would not let me - it kept loading the page for Mobile Mode again.

Is there anyone that can access Normal PC Mode with their phone?

Well, the system is forcing the mobile users to the mobile style. So, I think that I'd rather keep it like that. The "normal pc mode" is for those that got routed or 'stuck' in that scaled back style but are actually on a PC.

Should I allow mobile users to opt out of the mobile design? The regular style probably won't show up as well. It doesn't on my phone.

What do you think?

Well, what I really wanted to do was test what would happen if I tried to make a post and upload a photo. I know that on the PC, a pop-up window opens to upload the photo. I was wondering how it would work on the phone, if at all, but I can't even get there to test it.

So if you want to lift the moratorium on phones using Normal Mode for a test period, I'll test it and see what happens. That will tell us whether or not there is at least one reason to allow phones to use Normal Mode.

Let me know if you want to do the test.
