I never thought I'd be so excited about a giant purple singing dinosaur
Gasp! What's Barney doing on my blog? What's Pygmy on, and where can I get some? No, no, no, I'm not popping happy pills, and I haven't fully lost my mind . . . yet. The reason why I'm just thrilled to see this big guy singing and dancing around is because this DVD was entirely shot at Universal Orlando Resort. Sure, many films have been shot at Universal, but they were all shot in the soundstages, and rarely in the parks themselves, although there was one music video where they have flooded the New York section of the park right in front of the Mummy attraction.
So Barney, big scary yet child-friendly purple dinosaur gets an OK by me with thanks to this DVD as it goes through parts of not only Universal Studios, but it's sister park, Islands of Adventure. I'm not sure if there was anything else filmed at IOA, but knowing that something was shot there is pretty cool, even if it is just Barney. Another reason why I should personally give the big guy a big ol' hug is because there is a nice shot of the old Enchanted Oak Tavern (the creepy looking tree in the trailer) which has been demolished to make room for a Harry Potter themed section. So, even though this DVD was ment for kids only, and as a subliminal commercial for the 2 most awesome theme parks, I shall label this DVD, Barney and the Land of Make Believe, with the Pygmy Seal of Approval!

i went to the barney thing (not sure exactly what it's called) at universal years ago with some friends and a couple of their toddlers (before i was married/had kids) i was dreading it,,,,i was a pediatric er nurse at the time and had been "barnied" to the brink of insanity....i loved that stupid show; i still don't like barney, but for some reason the barney thing at universal is actually pretty fun.

I remember the first time going to the Barney show, I was in 'too old' (in my teens) for Barney at the time, and we were going for my younger brother who absolutely adored him. We went in, and actually enjoyed the show, still thought he was a lame creepy purple dinosaur, but overall had a good time. I didn't go back to the show until much later on with my gf and we'd watch it and admire the lighting and other techie stuff, and still managed to clap along to some of the songs
