"Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." - Walt Disney
I'm one of those very protective (not crazy, but protective) Fathers. So, it would have to be at an older age.
Now, if the question is based on the fact that I will be in the park and we will meet up somewhere at a particular time AND my child has someone else with them, then I think that 12 or older would be fine. But, again, as Jeff's states...it all depends on their maturity level.
I went with other since there are so many variables that Jeff and Arny have stated, such as maturity levels and if they'll be with other friends or siblings, and how long will they be out, or if you're just going to drop them off at the front gate and pick them up around closing time? From what I originally thought, which was going to the parks on your own either being dropped off at the front gate, or going to the parks while the 'rents are kicking back at the resort, I'd have to say they would need to be about 15 or 16.
It depends on their maturity. Some kids are good to go at 11 and others need to be 14, so it would vary based on the child's maturity.
I'm going to have to agree, my 12yr old would be alright, but I know that she is mature enough to handle the responsibility. It's also situational as well, if we were staying at a monorail resort and she wanted to go to the MK, sure but if she wanted to go to AK then not so much. LOL
In park though I wouldn't have a problem meeting up with her later if she wanted, although admittingly we haven't tried that yet. :
No kid of mine's going to WDW without me--I'm going to say she can go by herself on her honeymoon. And she'd better invite on the next trip after that.
