According to screamscape:
Park News - (11/17/08) In a move that is sure to get quite a few fanboy’s panties in a bunch, we’ve heard a rumor that in the very near future the great Water Vortex effect that Poseidon’s Fury was pretty much built around will be turned off… forever. I don’t know if it’s just become too much of a maintenance headache or just a cost-saver, but I’ve also heard that the park may try to spin this move as part of the semi-new “green” initiative. But really, this was probably one of the two most impressive effects in the entire attraction (both versions), so this is a disappointing move if true.

I wonder if they're doing this to make the attraction less appealing and therefore give them a reason to tear it down for more room for the boy wizard? I should hope not. The facade to Poseidon's Fury is amazing, but unfortunately when you get inside, the 'amazingness' was probably afraid of the dark and wasn't found anywhere in the show. I've only seen the recent version, but have heard the original version was far superior to what's being shown now, and it seems the only reason why people would still check this attraction out, is the awesome water vortex. Without it, there is no Poseidon's Fury. What do you guys think of this rumor, do you think this is a fake, or would Universal really turn off the vortex?
