Default No more water vortex?!?

According to screamscape:

Park News - (11/17/08) In a move that is sure to get quite a few fanboy’s panties in a bunch, we’ve heard a rumor that in the very near future the great Water Vortex effect that Poseidon’s Fury was pretty much built around will be turned off… forever. I don’t know if it’s just become too much of a maintenance headache or just a cost-saver, but I’ve also heard that the park may try to spin this move as part of the semi-new “green” initiative. But really, this was probably one of the two most impressive effects in the entire attraction (both versions), so this is a disappointing move if true.

Source: Screamscape

I wonder if they're doing this to make the attraction less appealing and therefore give them a reason to tear it down for more room for the boy wizard? I should hope not. The facade to Poseidon's Fury is amazing, but unfortunately when you get inside, the 'amazingness' was probably afraid of the dark and wasn't found anywhere in the show. I've only seen the recent version, but have heard the original version was far superior to what's being shown now, and it seems the only reason why people would still check this attraction out, is the awesome water vortex. Without it, there is no Poseidon's Fury. What do you guys think of this rumor, do you think this is a fake, or would Universal really turn off the vortex?

This looks like it really is going down, and sooner than expected

Park News - (11/26/08)
According to a park guest, they were told that this weekend may be your last chance to take a final walk through Poseidon’s Vortex effect. They sent in a good picture to share below as well, since this effect isn’t the easiest thing to get a good picture of.

So you've been through it turned off? What did "Taylor" say about it, did they try to change the script because of this, or did they went on as normal and hope people really don't notice thousands of gallons of water flying over their heads? I also gotta know, I'm sure someone said something about this, but did "Taylor" answer back to "Where's the water?"

I think he said we were going into a space ship which threw me off guard because I thought I heard the water jets. We were too the far left and couldnt see anything until we were at the tunnel. I was busy telling my friend from NY that the water was on and he was going to think it is cool. So, I wasnt paying attention to what was going on around me. Beth didnt go to the parks that day. His reaction to the whole experience was good though. First time for him so he didnt know what he was missing with the vortex being off.

I was bummed that the jack hammer was turned off over there by Ripsaw Falls too. The exsplosion in Terminator wasnt that good without the fog also. He still had a great time.
