Barb though you could say "my country was on the losing side" I feel no reason not to celebrate, IMO the US and UK has the same principles of freedom and democracy that as a person I believe in, and the rest of the world could look at and take note.
And in that belief I raise my glass to you and your country on this day and hope all America has a great time.

Ok Paul, I was basing my founding on my other British friends who hated it when we celebrated the 4th & including them in the fun which they refuse to come (their loss & I saved food )
I agree our countries are founded in the same principles. I thank you for raising your glass in honor of us. You know you & Sue should plan a trip to Disney same time DH & I go so we can meet up, who know when I will get over to that side of the pond anytime soon
Now he is talking about Kenya again oh well he would be out of my hair & I could sneak down to St Thomas

Glad to see there's no hard feelings
By the way I've visited England once and I hope that one day I will be able to go again.
I like your sentiments Paul.
The US and UK do have a lot more in common these days than we did over 200 years ago. And I am sure alot of our British friends here in the US would be more than happy to celebrate the 4th with us, because these days it's just as much about spending time with good friends, good food and good fun as anything else.
