Some strange new posters have been appearing around Disney areas that simply all black with white lettering that asks, “Are you 23?” Down at the bottom it says “March 10 - Disney” along with a web address to www.Disney.com/23. The website shows pretty much the same thing, except Tinker Bell flies out to zap it, changing it into a countdown clock for March 10th. Unfortunately all that bumping your system clock up does is change the countdown into a negative count-up and will not reveal anything more.
Exactly what the D23:Teaser is (as labeled in the site’s source code) is all about is still a mystery. The only thing I can think of is that it may reference something in Disney’s history that happened 23 years ago... back in 1986. From memory, only two major things of significance happened at Disney theme parks in 1986, the opening of Captain EO in Disneyland and Epcot and Star Tours is said to have soft-opened to guests in December of 1986 in Disneyland. While we know Disney has been looking for a replacement 4D film concept for Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, I’m not sure that the world is ready for the return of Captain EO. I can hope that this may have something to do with Star Tours 2... but that just doesn’t feel right either given the Tinker Bell appearance. Of course, that’s just what this could mean for the theme parks as this viral campaign is more likely something to do with a new Disney film or TV series. For example The Great Mouse Detective came out in 1986 as well as Flight of the Navigator.
This is very interesting. I signed up my email address. I have seen posts on other sites about this. I believe Pinnochio is being released on that date, but not sure what that has to do with 23????? I will be interested to see other's thoughts on this.

Whatever the D23 viral marketing campaign is for, it’s sure got a lot of people talking and thinking over the weekend. A few strong theories have come forward from the rest over the weekend’s musings it seems. According to one Screamscape source the D23 campaign has nothing at all to do with the theme parks, but instead may be to promote some kind of new Disney fan community initiative. In addition to some kind of new “club” magazine that may come out in the future, there is talk of some kind of new member’s only club somewhere within Disney’s California Adventure, not unlike Club 33 at Disneyland.
As for the number 23… some believe this may be in reference to the fact that the Walt Disney Company was founded in 1923. Others believe that this may have something to do with Pixar, which started out as a “Graphics Group” division of Lucasfilm in 1979 but when the division was bought by Steve Jobs in 1986 the group became a solo company and was given the name Pixar.
I can't wait to find out more about this. It should be interesting to say the least. I do hope though that this doesn't fizzle when they finally announce what it is.
I read the other day that the "Are you 23?" posters around the Burbank studio are for some sort of intense Disney fan club... anyone know anything else about this, because it's driving me crazy!
I wish I knew what it meant. I think it's driving everyone crazy! We still have about 5 weeks before we know for sure.
What's the name of that private club in Disneyland Anaheim? Isn't it Club 23?

This rumour is doing the rounds, from what I have read on other sites it is a club for more enthusiastic disney fans the relivence of the 23 is the year Disney opened his first studio, only time will tell I suppose

Are there any fans more enthusiastic than the groups we all belong to? Is this Disney's way of making their own WDB or DIS or Mouseowners, etc?
Just for the record - I don't think that was my thread. The only thing in that post attributed to me that was actually from me is the sentence asking if it was "Club 23". It looks like someone tried to merge threads and ended up merging several posts into a single post. Looks like I was having quite the conversation with myself!
Mary, you might be on to something with your theory about Disney starting their own forums. Places like The DIS have been really successful, and Disney may be looking to cash in on that success. I'm not sure they will get a huge, lasting following. People tend to establish themselves in an "internet home" and do not switch homes very easily.
