Default Disney Pilgrimage

Hi All!

I'm currently working on a research paper for my graduate course "Deconstructing Disney" and was hoping you could help me answer some questions.

How often/regularly do you go to Disneyland? Why do you go to Disneyland? Why do you go more than once? What do you hope to accomplish/what do you expect to get out of your visit to the park? Do you consider your trips to Disneyland as a type of pilgrimage?

Please tell me as much as you can about your perceptions of Disneyland visits and what they mean to you.

I can't wait to read what everyone has to say! Thanks for all your help.

If you have any questions or would like to talk to me more in-depth about Disney for my research purposes, please e-mail me at shanhiggins@csu.fullerton.edu.

Thank you!

My DH and I have been to Disney World each year since we got married in 2004, we just love the place and we can only afford to go once a year as we are coming from the UK.

I just love the fact that it allows me to reconnect with the child inside that has to hide from the world because I am expected to act as a grown up. I love the feeling and excitement i get planning and booking my vacation. I don't consider my vacation as a pilgrame.

I love everything about Disney I know when I go what I am getting - high quality and great service that is why as I child I promised my self one day I would stay at a Disney resort now for the last 4 trips we have done just that.

Friends think we are nuts going back each year because there is a great big world out there waiting to be seen but I know what I am getting and expect from Disney when we go.

Hope that helps.

We went to Disney World on our honeymoon. It was my first time as I grew up in California and was raised at Disneyland. What an experience! Cinderella Castle is sooooo very welcoming and changes your mindset. Along with other Disney things of course.

I, too, enjoy the planning and picking out restaurants and deciding on the resort. The planning is just as exciting as the going. Everything, all cares, are left at the entrance gate. The world outside stops and you enter a different world where everything is great! It lightens the load while you are there. We actually turn into these enormous kids while we are there. You have to let yourself be part of the vacation to actually feel all the things that you hear people talk about.

We try to go once a year since 2005. We did not make it in 2006 though. We did get to Disneyland and Disney World in 2010. It is not a pilgrimage, no.

We enjoy all the food! Disney World has GREAT food. We like to resort hop too. There is just something fun about that.

I hope this helps!!!!

I have been going to WDW since I was a little girl. My first visit was in 1977 and we went many times a year because we lived about 2 hours away. My Aunt moved to CA for her job so my first trip to DL was in 2002. My started taken my children 1994 (this was also my DH first trip to WDW). We had been to DL when we first started dating.

Like most Disney fanatics I love everything Disney! It brings such great joy to my life. I was lucky enough to marry a man that has learned to love Disney and can handle all my Disney talk and is ok with spending every vacation at Disney.

I agree it is not a pilgrimage.
