Can anyone suggest other good boards to go to? I like this one.
I am not a fan of disboards.com because I've found there to be a lot of attitude.
Sean,
honestly I have been on several forums and the 1 you mention is one of them, and that is why I came over here to WDBoards, the folks here are not about who's opinion is right our wrong and there is none of that attitude, we all have a common respect for each other and it is just meet & share our love for Disney.
I also have to say I am glad that since you have joined that you have jumped in and having discussions.

Ditto Shelley. I have visited and forgotten a few boards before finding this one. None are as active, well connected or have a group of people as committed to making a board that is fun to visit, helpful and fun to be around. Most of the other boards have evolved into complaint sites where people rant and whine about the one thing that went wrong on their vacation and how their tripped sucked because of it. Here, people tend to stay to the positive side of the experience. That is not to say that we haven't had our bad experiences, it is just that those tend to get drowned out by the noise level of all the fun times and great experiences that we have all had. That, at least, is why I continue to hang around this board as opposed to others. Mouseplanet.com and Disboards.com are two others that come to mind that aren't too bad.

I have to disagree with you on 1 point... this board really isn't that active, in my opinion. Please don't take that as a dig... maybe it's b/c I've only been on the DVC portion and maybe 1 or 2 other... I still like it here because it is friendly. I posted a few questions on Disboard prior to buying my DVC and got a lot of 'This isn't good for you" even though I'm pretty sure it is. When I finally bought and posted... not a single reply. At least here I got a few Congrats.
Also, I found another forum that I like as much as this one... mouseowners.com.
PS... you guys with jobs might think that this forum is active b/c you wait 8 hours between log-ins. I'm a police officer who got hit by a car (I might have mentioned that already)... I've been out on injured leave since 4th of july, so I'm constantly looking for some type of stimulation, so, to me, this board is kind of slow.
Alright, I might be a little biased here, but here are my .02 cents. First of all, all of these sites were created because of a love for Disney. The problem with the others, again my opinion, is that they have all gotten too wrapped up in making money, or the "fame" of it all. I have stopped listening to the podcasts that I used to love, and I have also stopped going to all of the other boards that I used to go to. Partly because there isn't enough time in the day to do it all, but mostly because of the attitudes that I have found present at the others. I have even been banned from one of them for sending a PM with a question about other boards promotion on their site. Arny, has no problem with the mentioning of other sites here, because we know that you all go to other sites. We don't mind it, whereas the others seem to mind it terribly. Anyway, I'll get off of my soapbox and tell you that the only other site I frequent is The Magic in Pixels. Tim, the guy that runs that site, is a great friend of mine, and for any of you out there that like Disney images and photography, that is THE site to go to (IMHO). Tim also writes a column for Celebrations Magazine. Well, I hope that you find some other sites to enjoy, and if not, by all means we are here for you. If there is something specific, you would like to see on the site, information or otherwise, PLEASE let us know. Arny is always working on the site, and VERY open to suggestions.
Sean
Sorry to hear that your were hit by a car Sean. Thanks for your service as a police officer. A hard job.
I understand what you are saying about the board. It is friendly boards but sometimes it can be hard for people like you looking for information.
I hope you give us a chance as I know at times a lot of people post later. Most of them work 8 hours or more a day & don't have a chance to even check in on the boards.
I can't answer any of your questions as I am not a DVC owner nor do I know much about how it works etc. I have no desire to buy into it.

oh yes, let me toss in that I do work and a mom of 2 kids 1 in college & the other in elementary school. So I try to check in often so nothing get missed. I know with the help of Greg "BigBear" to get our chat room used, but it has been a little difficult to find a time that works. I am not sure if you are a FB user but I know I have used that & twitter as an expanded resourse to my social network, since I have a smart phone.
I will say that I was ready ReedyCreekradio.com until the owner needed a break and I have heard it has come back on the air and they have a chat room that a few folks stop in during the day. If you do stop over there Kymie is 1 person that is very nice.

Let me just say one more time so that you don't get the wrong idea about me: active or not active, I don't care. This was the first place I came to after my negative experience with dis. I kind of see this place as a safe haven - a friendly place that will offer friendly advice and a friendly hello.
I may have come off the wrong way and if I did so, I apologize. I look forward to posting here and seeing your posts for a long time.
No, not at all, I know where you were coming from, I wish that I had a little more time to post more stories here, but right now with starting a new job after moving, it has been a little tough for me. I totally understand where you were coming from.
I REALLY need to vent... I'm being treated like garbage on Disboards. A senior member basically just stated "I love it whenb someone who is too stupid to use the search feature to find old threads doesn't get the answer they want and then gets huffy about it." I AM DONE with them. Who the hell do they think they are over there?
I think in my limited posts here that I have shown I am a reasonable and friendly person.

I once went to get some opinions on the Dining Plan and there just happened to be a thread with new posts. To read those posts and how people talk to others who do not 100% agree about the DDP is unbelievable! Some folks were getting "yelled" at for liking the DDP and others were being tormented for not liking it. All I was looking for was all the positives and all the negatives so that I could weigh it out and see if we wanted to try it. I didn't dare post anything. They actually scared me.
Well, we tried it and now we don't go to WDW without it!
I like the folks here. I can ask an absolutely ridiculous question and I will get answers from people who sincerely want to help me.
And if a new thread is started with the same question that has been asked before, GREAT! I love to talk about all things Disney and would be happy to give my opinion again and again!
Sean I am sorry that they treated you that way. Arny and I have made sure that we don't get that type of silliness over here, and I think that we have been successful. If there is anything else that you want to know about, or have any questions about, please post away and I am sure that someone will answer them, and NEVER speak to you or about you in that way here.
Ok, Sean, I was so annoyed by your post about how they complained about you that I used my "other" unbanned account at DIS and posted the following in their "New Rules" thread.
Quote:
New Rule: ALL Disney forums and fan sites on the web, stop being nasty to others as we are all here because of a love of Disney.
New Rule: Everyone that runs these Disney Forums should stop being so worried about the "other" sites that area out there. Face it your members are members of the other pages as well, so who cares if the others are mentioned or not.
New Rule: ALL admin's of these sites should take a good hard look at WHY they are involved in Disney web sites, and decide if it is for the fun or the "fame" or Money, and if it is either of the other two, I say shut down your site, and leave.
Don't worry everyone, I have a different screen name over there, so I can do something like this and see what happens, and not have any ill effects on anything anywhere else I post. I am curious to see what kind of lashings I take and whether or not I get this account banned too. I'll let you know what happens.
Well, it appears that the entire thread has been deleted already. I can't find it when I search for all of my posts for the day. I guess that didn't take too long.
Jeff, Didn't you think that they wouldn't pull your post? I answer a person's question about town car services & I recommended two that I knew were good & mine post was left but the two town cars web sites were deleted. Go figure. I go over to read the post & see how they treat people who don't think like they do they get slammed. Everyone has their views & I think it is our rights to view them without hurting one's feeling on how they feel about things. Each to their own, that how I feel. I like deluxe resorts where some like the values resorts. That is our choice & their choice. I don't knock anyone staying where they stay.

I know Barb, I was trying to see if they were going to just block this account. Apparently not. I got banned for "scamming the email system" when I sent the mods a PM requesting permission to post about the WDBuddies site when Arny first launched it. I got no response at all, I logged on and found out I had gotten a lifetime ban. Oh well, I think it is silly but I stick my nose in there anyway.
Banned man oh man Jeff they had some nerve it not like you were posting porn or begging for money that site is something. I guess they want people post only their view of thinking. It is like the one that was on AOL that I just to use until Aol took it away. Someone formed a group on Yahoo & I joined as it was people I knew but barely posted until one day I was reading which most of it was about TV shows etc. One person attack a person telling her her husband who worked as a contractor over in Iraq didn't deserve anything. As he wasn't military etc. The person even google the person's name & posted what she found out. Now to me that was wrong & I said that. It put the person in harms way. So I told that person maybe she should think before she acted & I don't care what she thought about contractors. They put their lives in danger as well. Yes they get paid more but they help. My husband is a contractor(but he doesn't get paid that well as he does it for personal reasons) after he retired but when he goes over to danger zones he doesn't get tax free money nor danger pay. But he does it as it helps the military out in other ways if you get my drift. I email the moderator & told her I was quitting & why & she said she understood. I get emails from some of them asking me to come back but I won't because of that incident & the fact it is not a Disney board anymore. Sad to say some sites are way too sensitive on who can post. What can you say?

Yeah I agree. The other sites, are "afraid" to let you talk about your conversations or experiences on the other boards, because they are worried that you are not going to come back to them. This is ridiculous, as most of us that belong to one site, belong to MANY of these sites. I don't understand that thought process. Who cares if you mention another sites name? Oh well, I hope that you are all comfortable with the environment here, and if there is anything that you would all like to see to make it better, then throw out the suggestions because we are always looking to make sure that we are the best we can be. Ok, enough from me for now
