I've only been here for about a day, but I just wanted to say thank you so much for making this board, for all the wonderful Disney communities like here and the disney driven life!
It is so nice to finally have people that understand me!! My whole life - since junior high school at least - I've been 'the Disney girl' and been teased for it. People just don't get it. Even a lot of my friends. Disney is pure magic and it's wonderful, and you guys get it and you're just all so awesome.
Re: Disney is NOT just for kids! Thank you http://thedisneydrivenlife.com!
Welcome!! I always loved Disney, grew up watching The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights, and we went to WDW in the 70s twice when I was young. I always knew I'd go back, but somehow didn't make it until 2008 - with my DH, 3 kids and DSister.
OH HOW I'M NOW HOOKED. I haven't even gone back yet - (if we don't go next year, I will probably lose my mind).
It is so nice to find like-minded people to "talk" to. Here, you can talk about Disney or non-Disney topics, and everyone is friendly and fun. And, unlike your "real-life" friends who think you're nuts, we KNOW you are, because we are too, but it's our own kind of Disney-nuttiness, and we love it!!!!

This is a great place. Glad you found us! Everyone here is very nice and helpful!
Christi, I hope that you get to go soon. I already told DH that we are going to have to plan for early December next year. We will have an 8 month old and a 3 year old then. DD2 was 8 months old on her first trip and it is only fair for #2!!!
Barb, you are right, if we are all the same, then THEY are all crazy!

One thing I never can work out. If we're the nutty ones for loving Disney, who are the millions of people purchasing the merchandise, seeing the movies, watching the TV shows, going to the parks and staying in the resorts each year? Welcome to the nutty world of Disney fans and everyone else is just a closet Disney fan, come out and join the party!
If being a Disney fan is the only thing your "friends" can fault you for then you can't be too bad a person then and they should consider themselves lucky to have you as a friend.
You aren't nuts. You started young. I was 32 years old before I went for the first time. Try becoming a nut at that age and watching how all of your friends react. I'm glad you found this place. It is full of wonderful people who share a passion for the most magical place in the country, in my opinion. I have even been able to get my daughter hooked on Disney to the point where she says that she wants to get married at The Grand Floridian. I'm totally cool with that. If the guys isn't up for that then he isn't the right guy for my little girl, who is a teen ager already.
I'm glad that you all have joined our happy "crazy" family, but I am going to go out on a limb and say that yes, Disney is for kids. I feel that we are all kids at heart, and we are all able to reach in and touch that part of us EVERY time that we drive through the entrance of the World. I think this is why we all get each other, and those that can't tap into or rather won't tap into that feeling, don't get us.

Great point Jeff. I just have to keep reminding myself that it is fine for me to act child-like as long as I don't behave in a childish manner. Sometimes I think we get those confused in the day to day. Disney allows us to clearly distinguish the two and be child-like again when we are there. Makes me wish they would just expand the park to the boarders so we could all get to be kids again.
Very true Jeff! It's all about the inner child. It's sad there are people out there that can't connect with the little boy or girl inside of them... or are embarrassed by that, so that they have to put others down. And Jim - I'm 30! No kids yet, but want them very much.
Oh, DH and I went to POR on our Honeymoon, and we went back one more time before we had kids. Touring the "World" is much faster without kids. We certainly do not get as much done anymore. However, it is very rewarding to see DD fall in love with all those things that I love, and remember as a child. There will be a day when we go without kids again, it just may be 20 years from now!
And yes, I absolutely turn into a child when I am there. No shame. I go there so I can be that child again.
It's one of the reason my DH and I love going back to Disney each year we spend 50 weeks of the year being grown up and responsible and for 2 weeks of the year we can put that to the side and get the inner child out - we all deserve it
One that point we are just back and while there we went to the MNSSHP and racing around the park going to the candy spots definately brought the child out in us both it was great fun - wasn't really aloud to go out as a child my Dad didn't approve of it
