Hi ya, just thought it would be nice to share a memory (or 2) from our past vacations, so here goes:
We went to WDW back in 2005 for our 1st Anniversary and as a wee treat we went to lunch at Cinderella's castle, it was very nice seeing all the characters walk about and they each came over to our table and had a wee chat.
The first character to come over was Wendy and when she came to our table I said "Hi Wendy" my husband turned to me in amazement and asked "how do you know her name???" You can imagine my expression, a girl standing at our table with a pony tail blue ribbons and a blue dress on in the MK, part of Disney - what do you think her name would be!!!
He was very embarrased and we still laugh about it. To make things worse we went back for lunch last year and he had worked out the names of the princesses and when Cinderella was chatting to us he told her to be careful of sewing machines (he thought we were talking to Sleeping Beauty), oh dear.
Speaking of Cinderellas Royal Table. We ate lunch there in Aug. of '08. It was very hot, of course, and we had been at MK since early morning. In the picture we had taken with Cinderella, we all look hot, gross, tired, and there is Cinderella, fresh and beautiful, quite the contrast! Actually my sister didn't look too bad in the picture, but the rest of us didn't really look like we should be anywhere even NEAR the poor princess. It still cracks me up.
Note to self --- freshen up before photos with princesses.
By the way, Gill, are you sure that wasn't Belle you were talking to?
Great topic. I can hear that accent when I read your text Gill, very cool.
Around 10 years ago, my 2 kids were 3 and less than 1 and we had our first character meal. It was with my parents and God-parents at Liberty Tree tavern so we were quite a group. It was a special memory because my god-father was in declining health and this trip was one of our last times together. By this time he was in a wheelchair w/oxygen, but he was still in great spirits. The way the characters interacted with him and my kids all through-out dinner was incredible. Including Goofy being kind enough to push him over to the restroom and waiting for the push back. A very fun evening!
Mine happen back in 1995. My Mother had breast Cancer & died in 1994 the year that we celebrated 25 years of marriage but couldn't get away due to helping take care of my Mum. Well next year after everything was taken care of. We decided to go on a trip. While sitting in the travel agent's office we were shooting down everything we came up with when the TA said why not Disney? So we said yes. Since all of us worked we could go Veteran's Day week. She called & said the only Deluxe that had rooms was the CR, GF or Poly. We took Poly but it was only club level. Hey you only lived once so we said yes. She called & got it but asked the Disney TA if we could have the room looking out to see the castle ( a room that was in demand) She told the lady of what a rough year we had & that we missed celebrating our 25 TH. She said she would try to work some magic. Well we left in 10 days not expecting to get that room. The day we left Washington DC it was snowing & it was cold when we got to Disney so we were dressed for it. Well when they drove us in the golf cart to our room. I was shocked as the view was of the castle I was really happy & started crying & the poor guy asked why & my son told him.
It was so nice each night to watch the fireworks from our room & wake up to that great view. The next day I call my TA & told her & she called Disney to put in a good word for Disney TA. There are others but this one sticks in my mind. This is what started me on going to Disney as much as we could as it was magical each time. Our son came with us until the age of 28 (starting taking him at 23) We only visited WDW like 2 times once in 1986 & 87 but only for two days (DH was on business trip). He would have gone more with us but he found his true love & got married in 2004. They have gone with us twice with us paying (stops now lol )

First want to say that these are such awesome sharing of events in your lives.
here is the one that really sticks with me, and of course it is the magic of the Castle.
In 2005 was my mine and my families 1st time(DH, DD-15 & DD-5 at the time). We too drove to FL from VA all night to get to disney since we had never been, we never told the girls we were going. After driving all night we arrived at WDW around 4pm the followign day. We were staying at the cabins at FW, after getting cleaned up and ready to head to the MK since we had dining reservation the CRT, that ride on the ferry was the best seeing the castle in the distance. Once we arrived at the MK and walked through those gates and stood at the end of Main st. and watching my 2 girls faces was pricessless, I was so choked up.
We headed to the castle for our ADR at CRT, once inside and seated and just taking in our surrondings we heard a CM say to another that Cinderella should be arriving soon in the lower level to start greeting guest, I looked at my youngest and asked here if she wanted to go she jumped up and headed towards the stairs, now of course I am thinking there is probably people waiting for her to arrive. When we arrived in the lower level there was a CM and guess who?? Cinderella!! there was no one else in that room but us. She turned to my 5 yr old and greeted her by taking her by the hand and the intereaction between them was the best I of course started crying I was trying to take a picture and the CM said oh no I need to get my pic too, so I did, but in all I think we got a whole 5 min with the princess and no one else in the room before other guest started to arrive.

"You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality." ~ Walt Disney
One of my favorite moments was a few years ago at Hollywood Studios. My husband and I happened upon a meet and greet with Buzz and Woody. Once I got up to Woody, he took me and walked with me arm in arm 40 feet pass all those standing in line. Needless to say this 50+ year old was made to feel so special!
One more special moment was this past spring again my husband and I went to meet the UP characters. Up happens to be one of my favorite all time movies and I was so excited to meet Carl, Russell and Dug. My husband walks with a cane so while we were with the group to have our pictures taken Carl gave my husband his cane with the golf balls....now that was a Kodak moment!
Hi Ed, I can just imagine the scene. It's great how WDW can become such a memorable place to so many people in sooo many different ways Reading everyone's memories is amazing - I was nearly crying at some of them. I know I don't really know you all but chatting to you all each day I guess you do feel a bit closer.
Back in 2004 I got married to my DH and he had never been to WDW and in my mind there was only 1 place in the world I wanted to go for our honeymoon. Things hadn't been too easy for us before we got married due to one thing and another so by the time we went on holiday i was a bit stressed out (the joy's of planning a wedding lol) when we walked into the MK and up main stress looking at the castle again was amazing and I was just overcome with emotions and I started to cry on the bridge heading into TW - I was so embarrased, the thing was I set off my DH, there we were the happiest time of our newly married life in the most magical place in the world and we were crying - oh dear
There have been happy moments on every trip I have ever had....which is probably why I keep going back. I will have to say the most gratifying moment for me was when we took my daughter and a friend of hers for spring break. Her friend is from a family that could never come close to taking a vacation to Disney. She is the most expressive kid you wil ever meet. All week long she was just as you hope your kid would be on their first visit, completely enchanted with everything. The sense of appreciation and enjoyment she had with everything was incredible.
The last night we see Spectro Magic and she is wide eyed and smiling ear to ear. After the parade we walk up Main Street to the castle. She asks if Tinkerbell is going to start the show, because a friend of hers said that she did. Just then Tinkerbell goes down the Zip line right over our head. This girl is in tears of joy from that moment through the entire fireworks show. Amazing how much joy a place like Disney can bring to someone who doesn't take it for granted. I keep that in mind every time we go. We bought our vacation club membership in part to be able to take a family with us once in a while who won't be able to go on their own. Our first trip like that will be next year. Looking forward to it.

Last year in July, we went to Disney to celebrate my birthday and my boyfriend and I were walking around world show case. I had had one of the It's my birthday buttons on not knowing that the cast members would notice. Well here we are in Mexico and a mariachi band is playing well they see my button and they bring me in and start serenading me. I was tomato red and so embarrassed. It was croweded but I'll never forget it.
Here's one I'll never forget. We're waiting along the parade route for the start of the parade. The Sheriff of Nottingham is working the crowd. I happen to have in my pocket a Sacajawea dollar coin. I flash it to the sheriff, not really believing he'd see it. After all, he was a good distance from us and I thought he was looking elsewhere. A minute later, I looked up and he was right in front of me demanding my coin. I shook my head no, and he nodded in the affirmative. Then, he turned me around to face my mom, who had her camera pointed toward us. I'll never forget that one.
This is when i was really little but.. My mom dad and I were having lunch in CC and two of the waitresses where carrying trays with the things you set them on, and they went to pass each other and instead of going by the bases for the trays caught in each others skirts and they were completely stuck, so my dad stood up walked over and un-stuck them. To this day he claims he saved 2 damsels in distress in a castle haha
In June 08 I was shopping at WDW while DH was at a class off property. I was almost 7 months pregnant and absolutely ENORMOUS! There are some women who you have to wonder if they are pregnant, not me, I was a whale and looked pregnant from day 1!
Well, Mary Poppins came and gave me a 1st Visit button for my belly! Cracks me up!
My memory of Disney trips goes back a long time but one sticks in my head. I had a Aunt who lived in Jacksonville I used to go to her house in the summer and spend summer vacation with her.I was about 6 Yrs old and we had just entered Magic Kingdom and being the excited kid I ran down Main Street and tripped over the trolley tracks. blood ran all down my legs from my knee iI wouldnt stop crying. my aunt got some napkins and water from the bathroom but i wouldnt stop crying, until Eeyore came by and sat next to me and held my hand while my mom and aunt put a bandaid on my knee. I have a old poloroid of me and eeyore from that moment blown up..
AAAWWW - that is so cute - A disney fan before "bump" came into the world I know everyone has happy memories from they're vacations but if anyone asks me for a happy memory I always think of Disney - I just find it amazing how magical it is to so many people. To be honest there a 3 people in my marriage me, my husband and Mickey mouse - but DH accepts that
