My free (Disney rewards) copy of Bedknobs and Broomsticks just arrived from the Disney store

I am going to settle down on this very wet and drab afternoon and watch it

Is that the 'special edition' that removed all the added scenes they had originally put in the VHS 'special edition'?

Still, the added scenes were, in my opinion, poorly dubbed anyway.

Yeah, can't complain. One of those Disney films that they never really do it justice when they release it. I'm not expecting a very exciting blu ray release either if they do it in the future.

I would love to see some of the old classics remade with the new technology. Bed Knobs and broomsticks is one of them. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea is another. With the CGI they have now, those would both be really cool to see as a remake and I am not generally in favor of remakes.

It has been such a long time since I've seen Bedknobs and Broomsticks - I can't even remember what it's all about! How did you like it?

Noooooooooooooooooooooo! Not a remake of Bedknobs And Broomsticks! I'm sorry, but I feel that there's a great sense of charm about that film that was made by those effects. No CGI there, just a bit of greenscreen, string, cleverly cut shots, a bit of animatronics and a 1 legged man.

To do it in CGI and you'd just think 'Yeah that's CGI' wheras with the orignal, it's a game of wondering how they achieved their effects.

The effects on 'Escape To Witch Mountain' were dodgy, but it's still 100 times better than 'Race To Witch Mountain'.
