Disney Channel has ordered an additional 13 episodes of the hit animated comedy Phineas and Ferb, bringing its second season to 39 episodes. The Emmy-nominated series created by Dan Povenmire (Family Guy) and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh (The Simpsons, Rocko's Modern Life premiered around the world on Feb. 1 and has become one of Disney Channels top-rated programs.
In the 2D series, Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother, Ferb Fletcher, set out to conquer boredom and make every day of their 104-day summer vacation count. This involves such shenanigans as building a backyard beach, becoming one-hit wonders and creating a new hybrid season dubbed S'Winter. Their older sister, Candace, takes it upon herself to get the boys in trouble, but the proof she needs always mysteriously disappears by the time Mom arrives on the scene. to come and see her brothers' antics. Meanwhile, the family's pet Perry the Platypus may leads a secret life as suave Agent P, deftly battling the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz to save the Tri-State area.
The shows voice cast includes Vincent Martella (Everybody Hates Chris) as Phineas, Thomas Sangster (Nanny McPhee) as Ferb, Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) as Candace, Mitchel Musso (Hannah Montana) as Jeremy, Caroline Rhea (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) as Linda Flynn-Fletcher, Richard O'Brien (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) as Lawrence Fletcher, Dee Bradley Baker (American Dad) as Perry the Platypus and Alyson Stoner (Camp Rock) as Isabella. Guest stars lined up for the second season include John Larroquette, Sheena Easton, Lorenzo Lamas, Corbin Bleu, Damian Lewis and Cloris Leachman.
Exec produced by Dan Povenmire and co-exec produced by Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, the Walt Disney Television Animation production is nominated for Emmy Awards for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. The main title theme song is performed by Grammy-nominated artists Bowling for Soup.
