In the original script taken from book Snow White, what were the Seven Dwarfs named ?
In the original script taken from the book Snow White, does anyone know
what were the names of the Seven Dwarfs.
We all know their names in the great 1937 film, but I just want to check if they're the same. I realise there was a list of 50 names, but that's not it.

From what I can find, the original story, that was adopted by the Brothers Grimm, the dwarfs were originally anything from robbers to miners. They had no names until later on.
Re: In the original script taken from book Snow White, what were the Seven Dwarfs name
The names of the Seven Dwarfs (Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy) were created for this production, chosen from a pool of about fifty potentials. The one name Disney always had in mind from the start was Grumpy, or something similar. Blabby, Jumpy, Shifty, and Snoopy were among those that were rejected, along with Awful, Baldy, Biggo-Ego, Biggy, Biggy-Wiggy, Burpy, Busy, Chesty, Cranky, Daffy, Dippy, Dirty, Dizzy, Doleful, Flabby, Gabby, Gloomy, Goopy, Graceful, Helpful, Hoppy, Hotsy, Hungrey, Jaunty, Lazy, Neurtsy, Nifty, Puffy, Sappy, Sneezy-Wheezy, Sniffy, Scrappy, Silly, Soulful, Strutty, Stuffy, Sleazy, Tearful, Thrifty, Tipsy, Titsy, Tubby, Weepy, Wistful, and Woeful.

Well, my votes would have gone to:Shifty, Burby, Dirty, Jaunty, Lazy, Nuertzy, Sleazy, and Tipsy. I have 8, and had a hard time narrowing them down. My guys definately weren't working in the mines all day. It's hard telling what they've been doing all day, but overall they're a really cheerful bunch.
I might've named Snow White "Hotsy". Is it any wonder that I don't work for Disney?
Re: In the original script taken from book Snow White, what were the Seven Dwarfs name
The person asking this trivia question said what's below, but I'm
unsure how to answer.
- When Walt received the SWATSD script in 1934, he then decided to come up with names for
the dwarves. So if he was the one who decided to name them, then came up with a list of 50
possible names, what does that suggest was in the script before he even did anything ?
The 50 names came after the original script.
Re: In the original script taken from book Snow White, what were the Seven Dwarfs name
Bearing in mind that I've not researched this at all, maybe it wasn't an actual script, per se, but a concept - first draft type of thing with no dialogue at all for the dwarfs yet. Maybe the dwarf dialogue only came about after the naming of them, when their personalities were known, but the basic idea for the whole movie was in place. - Or just very basic dialogue that was tweaked later after their personalities were added.
With so many books, etc., on the history of Disney, there has to be a definitive answer out there. Again, maybe Deco King knows, he said Snow White is his favorite, and he may be pretty knowledgable on the subject.

HallMitchell, thanks kindly.
Can you please present evidence (with links if at all possible)
for the info you've posted, in terms of where you got
it from. Thanks.
Re: In the original script taken from book Snow White, what were the Seven Dwarfs name
According to the book The Man Behind the Magic by Katherine and Richard Greene, Walt considered the names Shifty, Nifty, Woeful, Soulful, Flabby, Crabby, Awful, and Snoopy. Then after several months, the animators named them Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, and Seventh. Yes, poor Dopey was so hard to name that they called him Seventh for a while.
As for the original script, I don't know how that information could be found.
