The Venice Film Festival will break with its indie tradition and bestow a career achievement honor on John Lasseter and the directors of the Disney and Pixar studios.
The festivals organizers called Lasseter "one of the great innovators and experimenters of Hollywood," according to a Reuters report. Lasseter is chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation and Pixar, having won two Oscars and directed such hits as Toy Story, Monsters, Inc. and Cars.
The Venice Film Festival is set for Sept. 2-12.
