Leonard Slye, who will later be known as cowboy star
Roy Rogers and appear in countless films including Disney's 1948
Melody Time and Pecos Bill, is born in Cincinnati, Ohio.
1930 - Disney's Silly Symphony cartoon Winter is released.
1931 - The
Mickey Mouse short The Beach Party, directed by Burt Gillett, is released.
1937 - Disney's Silly Symphony cartoon The Old Mill is released. This is the first film to use the multiplane camera, a device invented by
Ub Iwerks and the Disney staff. The special camera gives depth to animation by using layers of backgrounds painted on glass. (This short and the camera will both win Oscars.)
1948 - The Disney short Three for Breakfast featuring
Donald Duck and
Chip 'n'
Dale is released.
1961 - The NBC-TV series
Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color airs "Inside
Donald Duck."

Singer and actress
Andrea McArdle, who played
Belle in Disney's Broadway hit Beauty and the
Beast in 1999, is born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (As a youngster she was the original star of the Broadway musical hit Annie.)

Illustrator
Peter Emmerich is born in New York City. He will begin his career with Disney as a character artist for
Walt Disney Consumer Products (where he will work for over two years) before being promoted to Chief Illustrator and Official Character Artist for the Disneyland Resort.
1987 -
Paul Kevin "Kevin" Jonas Jr., the eldest member of the Jonas Brothers, is born in Teaneck, New Jersey.
1990 - The Yacht Club Resort (the twin sister to the Beach Club Resort) opens at 1700 Epcot Resorts Blvd in
Walt Disney World. Located just west of Epcot, the hotel is set around a 25-acre lake. The deluxe resort resembles the New England seaboard hotels of the late 1800s.
1998 - Pleasure Island's 2nd annual Blues Thing kicks off with guitarist Jimmie Vaughan.
2004 - The Disney/Pixar film The Incredibles opens in theaters nationwide. A special midnight showing is held at Disney's El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California.
2006 - The first two preview shows of Finding Nemo - The Musical takes place at Animal Kingdom in Florida.
