1955 - Disneyland's Canal Boats of the World attraction closes after 2 months of operation. It will be revamped and renamed Storyland Canal Boats.
1958 - Actress Jennifer Tilly, the voice of Celia in Disney's 2001 Monsters, Inc. and Madame Leota in Disney's 2003 live-action The Haunted Mansion, is born in Harbor City, California.
1963 - Composer-conductor Oliver Wallace passes away in Los Angeles, California. His work at the
Walt Disney Studio included Dumbo (for which he won an Oscar for Best Score in 1941 along with composer Frank Churchill), Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Lady and the Tramp.
1963 - Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Richard Marx is born in Winnetka, Illinois. His song "Remember When" (performed by LeAnn Rimes) was composed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Disneyland. Disney's 2006
Bambi II features his song "Through Your Eyes."
1979 - Disney's Wonderful World airs part 2 of "The Absent-Minded Professor."
1984 - The Restaurant el Marrakesh opens in the Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT.
1986 - Sabrina Bryan, a member of Disney's The Cheetah Girls, is born Reba Sabrina Hinojos in Yorba Linda, California.
1992 - Nicholas Jerry "Nick" Jonas, the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers, is born in Dallas, Texas. At the age of 6 he will be discovered while singing at a barber shop and be referred to a professional show business manager.
